Insula acquires the SALMA brand from Bremnes Seashore

Bremnes Seashore has reached an agreement to transfer the ownership of the SALMA brand to the seafood group Insula. With this acquisition, Insula takes on the responsibility of further developing and distributing one of Norway’s most recognized brands for fresh salmon.
“SALMA has played a significant role in the history of Bremnes Seashore. We take great pride in having built a brand that has set the standard for quality and freshness in the Norwegian market. This journey has been defined by innovation, courage, and the contributions of talented individuals at every stage. Now, we are pleased that SALMA has found a new home with Insula—a company with strong brand expertise, a robust distribution network, and, most importantly, dedicated and experienced professionals who understand this industry well,” says Linda Litlekalsøy Aase, CEO of Bremnes Seashore.
Insula views this acquisition as an opportunity to preserve and further develop a brand with a unique market position and strong consumer recognition.
“SALMA is a flagship in the Norwegian seafood industry, the result of impressive brand building and product development over many years. We hold great respect for the work Bremnes Seashore has done and would like to extend special thanks to Olav Svendsen for his role as founder and driving force behind SALMA. We also want to acknowledge all those who have contributed making SALMA what it is today—from production to marketing. We take on this responsibility with humility and look forward to further developing the brand with our skilled professionals,” says Sigvald Rist, Managing Director of Insula Norway.
He further emphasizes that with over three decades of experience in the Norwegian consumer market, Insula understands the vital role that strong brands, alongside private labels, play in making seafood both attractive and relevant to consumers.
Going forward, production of SALMA products will take place at Insula’s sister company, SalMar. The ambition is to reintroduce the products to Norwegian grocery stores by autumn.
Since its launch in 2006, SALMA has become a recognized hallmark of quality for fresh salmon setting an uncompromising standard for quality that has captured the trust of consumers nationwide. This acquisition marks the beginning of a new chapter for the brand - building on its legacy while embracing future opportunities.
“We have found the right partner for the future of SALMA. Insula brings experience, expertise, and passionate individuals committed to seafood. We are confident that they will honour the brand’s legacy while developing it for a strong future,” concludes Linda Litlekalsøy Aase.
The completion of the transaction is subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
Pareto Securities served as the financial advisor for the transaction. Both parties express great satisfaction with the professional process and advisory support throughout the deal.
